Who would have thought that a simple conversation between three women at a tamale-making event would take on a life of its own? We attended a women’s retreat in Mendocino, CA a few months prior and thought “maybe we could host our own campout?” It snowballed from there.
We had meetings, wrote guidelines, gathered volunteers for positions, and organized many fundraisers. One of our favorites was the New Year’s Eve Masquerade Ball.
We anticipated our first retreat would draw about 25 women. With a tremendous amount of support from the fellowship, we were able to host our first camp out on June 2, 2017, at Grover’s Hot Springs in Markleeville, CA. 69 women attended!
We have continued to host this retreat in June every year since. It grew so much after the first couple of years that we needed a new venue. We moved to Camp Concord in South Lake Tahoe, CA– which is basically glamping at its best! Catered meals and memory foam mattresses mean all you have to bring is a sleeping bag/pillow, snacks, and whatever other overnight things you may need. We handle the rest!
Are you ready to join us? We can’t wait to see you!
